I am looking to develope a web site that depending on the device connecting to it, it will display a certain page. I stopped (closed browser windows) with eight instances of Excel running on the server. I opened up several instances of IE this morning, and hit the page several times in a row (not exactly MS App Center Test, but it works). It works perfectly locally, but leaves instances of Excel running on the server.

Is there something else I should be doing? I do this as soon as I save the Excel, before I display the hyperlink, as well as in a finally block, and a page_unload. I am doing my cleanup - I do a ReleaseComObject() for every Excel associated object (application, workbook, workbooks, worksheets, worksheet, cells), then set it to nothing and then do a gc.collect(). I recently wrote a pretty dinky web app that takes a multi-tabled dataset, creates & saves a multi-worksheeted Excel workbook, and gives the user a link to open the file.
